Version History

Never lose work. Track every change, compare versions, and restore previous versions with one click. Auto-save keeps you protected.

How Version History Works

1

Automatic Version Tracking

DeckOS automatically creates versions when you make significant changes to your deck. Every save is tracked and stored.

2

Browse Version History

Open the version history panel to see up to 50 previous versions. Each shows the date, time, author, and a summary of changes.

3

Compare Versions

Click any version to see what changed: which slides were added, removed, or modified.

4

Restore with One Click

Found the version you need? Click "Restore" to revert your deck. DeckOS creates a backup of your current version first, so you can undo the restore if needed.

Key Features

Auto-Save

Changes are automatically saved every 30 seconds. You'll never lose work due to browser crashes or accidental closes.

Up to 50 Versions

Access the last 50 versions of your deck. Older versions are archived but can be recovered if needed.

Timestamp & Author

Every version shows when it was created and who made the changes. Perfect for team collaboration.

Safe Restore

Restoring creates a backup of your current version first. You can always undo a restore if you change your mind.

How to Access Version History

Method 1: Toolbar Button

Click the "Version History" button in the editor toolbar. The version history panel slides in from the right.

Method 2: Keyboard Shortcut

Press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + H to toggle version history.

Understanding Version Comparisons

When you click a version in the history panel, you'll see a summary of changes:

+3 slides added

Shows how many new slides were created in this version.

-1 slide removed

Indicates slides that were deleted in this version.

~5 slides modified

Shows slides that were edited (text changed, layout updated, etc.).

đź’ˇ Version History Best Practices

  • •Check version history before making major changes—you can see what worked before
  • •Use manual saves (Cmd/Ctrl + S) before risky edits to create clear restore points
  • •Review who made changes if working with a team—helps track decision-making
  • •Don't worry about restoring—every restore creates a backup first
